Buy Your Freehold
We are always happy to offer leaseholders the option to buy their freehold or extend their lease. There are a number of benefits to both as listed below.
Buying your freehold (predominantly houses)
Escape future requirement to pay any ground rent - many modern leases stipulate the rent will increase over time meaning your ground rent may increase dramatically.
Freehold property is much more attractive to buyers - some of whom will not consider leasehold properties at all.
You will own your home and the land it sits on. Many modern leases only provide for 99 or 125 year leases.
There will be no requirement to request consent and pay fees if you would like to sell or remortgage your property.
You are free to alter your home (extensions, garages, loft conversions, conservatories etc) without having to request permission and pay consent fees.

Extending your lease (predominanty flats)
Should you have less than 80 years, or approaching this level, your property may become difficult to sell. If your lease has under 80 years many mortgage lenders will not want to lend on it which, in turn, means most buyers cannot finance a purchase.
